Empower the Congo.org

The Empower the Congo project is designed to bring awareness to the current situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is an online project that provides information, lesson plans, and a social network for those interested in advocating/fundraising on behalf of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Working with the United Nations association of the Congo, we hope to both build awareness and provide direct support on the ground in order to help improve the condition of and empower the people of the Congo, with special emphasis being placed on supporting women and children.

After successfully piloting the Empower the Congo online curriculum project in schools in South Korea and Saginaw, Michigan, we returned to Geneva to present our findings to our partners in the United Nations Association of the Congo.  Encouraged by the initial results of the project in terms of fundraising and awareness building, plans for the next phase of the project are being developed.

In enhancing the collaboration between the project and our partners working on the ground in the Congo is one of our chief goals moving forward.  Specifically the site, online curriculum, and fundraising efforts will be re-engineered to focus on work the United Nations Association of the Congo is doing to educate and empower a small group of women in the Congo.  The site will also serve as platform these women to tell their stories and interact with project participants.
